Logo, tagline redesign

Opportunity

For Outreach Promotional Solutions’ 10 Year Anniversary, I decided to surprise the team with something we have all been thinking about: a logo redesign. The logo no longer represented the type of company that Outreach had become, and was a bit confusing if I’m being honest. 

Customers did not know that the CEO had meant for the “O” to represent a head and arms, a nod to the name “Outreach” and the colors and fonts did not show the level of professionalism or the breadth of projects that Outreach has headlined over the last 10 years.

Start-up:

A few things were clear in my initial research:

  1. That O had to go.
  2. The color scheme was a bit harsh and outdated.
  3. The fonts needed to be carefully chosen.
  4. Most people refer to the company as Outreach Promos and not Outreach Promotional Solutions.
  5. We have had print issues with the drop shadow behind the “utreach”

I began with a cooler color palette. This was to reduce the harsh constrast that existed, but I loved that the colors were in the same family as the web colors I had already implemented on the Outreach website.

Build:

My initial concepts were th go with a more “techy” look, and I did propose one. You can see some of my concepts to the left. I liked the idea that this “O” could represent print and stitching, two things they specialize in. In my next concept, I wanted to try abstract and rounded fonts as this style kept popping up in my research. 

I also proposed the tagline be changed, Outreach had branched off and founded a non-profit with community involvement as its focus, and Outreach focused on print, promotional products, apparel and design. We already used the tagline print + promo + apparel + design on our collateral, so this wasn’t a HUGE shocker. Ultimately, we went with the one below, which utilized the font we all love at Outreach, Ubuntu, and the new tagline.

Success:

This project is still ongoing, but was a major hit with the team and CEO. Everyone seemed to agree on one logo in particular and that it should be implemented right away. Rebranding is a huge undertaking: the product logos, website, printed materials, social media accounts, email footers, etc all need to be changed, so I am doing a slower roll-out in preparation for the 10 Year Anniversary party and logo reveal.
